Solar panels for sale in the Eastern Townships

500 W, 445 W and 330 W — new and used, with the real specs.

New and used panels, sold in person in the Eastern Townships by someone who installs them. Every figure here comes from the panel's own nameplate — and the page works out what a classified ad never does: how many fit in series on your controller when it is −30 °C outside.

500 W bifacial solar panel, new — $200

JA Solar JAM60D41-500/LB, new, made in Vietnam, with MC4-compatible connectors. This is the high-voltage panel in my stock: 45.00 V open-circuit, 38.26 V at maximum power. Fewer of them fit in series than an ordinary panel — check the table below before choosing your controller. For wiring, use the short-circuit current with the rear face lit, 17.30 A, not the 14.05 A front-face figure: it is the one that sizes the fuses.

445 W bifacial solar panel, new — $190

LONGi LR7-54HGBB-445M, new and bifacial. The opposite of the JA Solar: lower voltage, higher current, 39.50 V open-circuit and 14.30 A. That is what lets 3 of them run in series on a 150 V controller, where the JA Solar stops at 2. 30 A maximum series fuse, 1,500 V system voltage. For a small cottage or RV system on a 150 V controller, this is the most convenient format on the page.

330 W monocrystalline solar panel, used — $100

SunEdison SE-F330BCC-36 · used · 72 cells · $90 each from 10

Used SunEdison 330 W solar panels, stacked
Open-circuit voltage (Voc)46.20 V
Voltage at max power (Vmp)37.70 V
Short-circuit current (Isc)9.28 A
Current at max power (Imp)8.77 A
Max series fuse15 A
Voc at −30 °C, worst case53.8 V

SunEdison SE-F330BCC-36 monocrystalline, used, 22 kg each. At $100 that is 30 cents a watt — the cheapest watt on the page. High voltage and low current, 46.2 V and 9.28 A: the wiring stays light, but cold pushes the voltage up fast. 3 in series exceed a 150 V controller at −30 °C. 15 A maximum series fuse. Bring a multimeter: you are welcome to test them on the spot before paying.

How many in series, by controller

The maximum number of panels in series without exceeding your controller's voltage, worked out at −30 °C with each label's tolerance and a −0.30 %/°C coefficient. The small figure is the resulting string voltage. Keep a margin: a string that lands a few volts under the limit is a string with no margin at all.

Do not parallel the 2 brands. The JA Solar works at 38.26 V, the LONGi at 33.02 V: 5.24 V apart per panel. In series that is fine. In parallel, one controller can only track one voltage, and one group works away from its best point. Group by brand.

Bifacial, honestly

The JA Solar label carries 2 ratings: 500 W under standard conditions, and 552 W with the rear face lit. The second only happens with a reflective surface behind the panel and a mount that lets light through. Laid flat on a dark roof, the gain is close to zero. Raised above snow, it is real — and in Quebec it arrives exactly when production collapses. I sell these as 500 W panels with a conditional bonus, because that is what they are.

How to buy

Write to me on Messenger with the number of watts you need and your controller's voltage. I will tell you what I have and how to string it. Pickup is in person in the Eastern Townships; buyers come from Sherbrooke, Magog, the Bois-Francs, the Beauce and the South Shore. Payment by cash or Interac e-Transfer. If a listing is online, I still have some.

Questions

Do you deliver?

No. Panels are picked up in person in the Eastern Townships. We load them together, which is the right moment to talk about your build. The exact location is shared by Messenger.

How many panels can I put in series?

It depends on your controller's maximum voltage. The table on this page gives the number for 100, 150, 250 and 500 V, worked out at −30 °C: in deep cold a panel's voltage rises, and that is what destroys controllers.

Can the JA Solar and LONGi panels be mixed?

In series, yes: their currents are close. In parallel, no: their maximum-power voltages differ too much, and the controller can only track one. Group them by brand.

Is bifacial worth it on a roof?

Laid flat on a dark roof, hardly: the rear face gets no light. Raised above snow or pale gravel, yes — and that gain arrives precisely in winter.

How do I pay?

Cash or Interac e-Transfer, at pickup.
